2025 Poetry & Essay Winners!

🎉📚 Congratulations to the Winners of Our Poetry & Essay Contest! 📚🎉

We are thrilled to announce the 12 outstanding students who were selected as this year’s Poetry & Essay Contest winners! Big congratulations to Isabella, Victoria, Ajun, Reya, Essa, Solema, Samantha, Aushmi, Harrison, Hannah, Anshi, and Justin!

With this year’s topic being “What was the best gift you ever gave someone?”, our young writers shared heartfelt, thoughtful, and sometimes funny stories about the joy of giving and their creativity truly impressed us.

We were also thrilled to recognize Victoria and Ajun, whose entries from last year went on to win at the State Federation level! We also had 3 other State winners: Leah, Lucy and George!

We also want to extend a big thank-you to the parents, teachers, administrators, and our dedicated judging panel for supporting these young writers. And an extra-special thanks to Tamara, our contest chairwoman, for her tremendous work organizing this year’s contest.

We are so proud of our young authors! Keep writing, keep imagining, and keep shining! ✨📝

Domestic Violence Awareness

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our members joined the Center for Hope & Safety’s 10th Annual 3K Walk Against Domestic Violence. The weather was perfect for a beautiful stroll through the park — all for an important cause! 💜🚶‍♀️🌳

We Got Talent!

Our members got talent — and the awards to prove it! 🏆📸

Congratulations to our talented members for winning big at District Achievement Day for their photography entries, and to our hardworking committee chairs for earning top honors in the annual reporting awards.

We’re especially proud that our District First Place Award went on to win First Place at the State Convention! What an amazing way to end the club year — celebrating creativity, dedication, and teamwork. 💙✨

Congratulations! 40 Years Strong! Federation Honors!

💐 As we wrap up our club year, we had the joy of honoring two incredible women for 40 years of dedication to our club — Nona Maher and Barbara Ostrom. 💐💫

⭐️ Barbara was inducted into the NJSFWC Honor Roll, recognizing her outstanding service and commitment. Nona, already a member of the Honor Roll, received the distinguished Federation Order of the Lily for her continued dedication and impact.

Although they couldn’t attend our meeting, we brought the celebration to them — surprising them at home with their pins and flowers. A heartfelt thank you to Nona and Barbara for inspiring us all! 💖

National Contestants!

Exciting news!

As we officially kicked off this year’s Poetry & Essay Contest, we were thrilled to have last year’s National Contest Qualifiers with us! Ryaan and Rachel treated us to one final reading of their incredible stories. Ryaan was awarded a special recognition certificate, and Rachel proudly received her First Place winner certificate!

Congratulations to both of them!

Palisades Hike

Did you know that the Women’s Clubs of New Jersey helped to save the Palisades?

Members enjoyed scenic views and beautiful weather as they hiked along the Women’s Heritage trail atop the Palisades. The area is important in the New Jersey Women’s Club Federation’s history. In the 19th Century the New Jersey Woman’s Clubs banded together to legislate the end of quarrying on the cliffs and the preservation of the Palisades. The Women’s Clubs assisted with the funding to preserve the cliffs, parkland, and shore that we now know as a 12-mile-long swath of nature with over 30 miles of trails along the shore of the Hudson River.

Members hiked to the Women’s Federation Monument that was dedicated on April 30, 1929 which commemorates the efforts of the New Jersey Women’s Clubs to preserve this valuable resource for the future.
