Ramapo District Performing Arts Day

Members attended the NJSFWC Ramapo District Performing Arts Day on March 19th. Two of our members are stars! Anne Guadango read her hilarious short story titled Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God! and Claudia O’Bosky sang an operatic rendition of Carmen’s La Habanera that blew everyone away! Congratulations to both ladies! Anne was voted to represent the District at the State Convention in April. Many thanks to Ginnie Huresky and Kathy Sullivan who organized the day and to our District VP, Tina Ree, who emceed the morning and to all the participants from other clubs. Ramapo’s got talent!

Whoo Hoo! What A Day!

Yesterday was a great day for the USR Women’s Club at the NJ Women’s Club Ramapo District Achievement Day! We are proud to report that many of our 19 entires won awards across Photography, Painting, and Crochet work, with our Gold winners moving onto the State level competition.

We owe a huge thank you to all the diligent work of our committees this year, and all the members who encouraged new members to join. Our club was recognized in 10 categories, and we are thrilled with our success. Congratulations to all on a job well done!

NJSFWC 125th Anniversary Day of Service

The New Jersey Federation of Woman’s Clubs celebrated its 125th Anniversary by holding a Day of Service on November 16th. All clubs were asked to donate goods that a young man or woman aging out of foster care might need when setting up their own living space. Among the items members donated were toiletries, cleaning products, blankets, socks, backpacks, hats, notebooks, t-shirts, snack items and many more. Members also wrote notes of encouragement to be given to the young people as they set out on their own. We filled a car with our donations. Many thanks to  Sheila Ghorashi and Linda Miko who drove the items to Montville to our district collection location.Day of Service

Emmanuel Cancer Center Birthday Bags

We have donated non-perishable food items and birthday bags to Emmanuel Cancer Center this year. The last delivery before the summer was made yesterday. We are happy to support this worthwhile cause, and plan to continue our support for the next club year. Birthday Bags provide celebration ingredients for the children and their families fighting cancer. A cake mix, a can of frosting, candles, balloons, festive plates and napkins, and other small party items in a birthday bag can make a big difference!

Pictured below are Maria Di Martino and Linda Miko (Club Social Service Chairs), Inessa Rome (Director of Emmanuel Cancer Center), and Nona Maher (Club President).

Food Drive For Emmanuel Cancer Foundation

December is a special time to remember to give from the heart. We drove to the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation in Midland Park with a car load of non-perishable food supplies donated by our members.  We are happy to support this worthy cause that helps families faced with the crisis of pediatric cancer. We also support them with Birthday Bags for the children.
