Won’t you join the Upper Saddle River Woman’s Club and donate to feed a family in need for the holidays? Your donation of $60 feeds a family of 8-10 (or several meals for a smaller family). We are partnering with CYACYL (Change Your Attitude, Change Your Life), and all meals (turkey or ham) will be cooked by a chef and delivered ready to eat. Included in each meal are meat, vegetables, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, salad, rolls, butter and dessert.

Send your check, made out to The Woman’s Club of Upper Saddle River, to our P.O. Box 645 in Saddle River. Write CYACYL on the memo line and specify your choice of gift (turkey or ham). Please send your check by December 5th, and join us in making a difference for many families this holiday season!

Washington’s Headquarters

On Wednesday, members toured Washington’s Headquarters in Morristown. We learned about the encampment of 1789-1780 when George Washington and his men endured the coldest winter on record. Washington set up his command center in the Ford mansion. The home is furnished with some original and period pieces to reflect what the house most likely looked like when Washington, his wife, aides and servants shared the house with Mrs.Theodosia Ford and her children. The museum displays 18th century weapons, documents, and paintings from the war, as well as a film re-enacting the winter conditions the patriots endured. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at South and Pine Restaurant. Many thanks to Ronnie O’Neill who planned this delightful autumn day!

Oktoberfest 2019

Upper Saddle River’s Town Wide Oktoberfest on Saturday, which benefited USR Cares and celebrated the town’s 125th anniversary, was a success! The weather was beautiful, and our club’s table drew many residents who wanted to learn about who we are and what we do–as well as many children who created their own autumn leaf decorations. Thanks to our members who set up and manned the table–and then broke it all down at the end of the day!

Emmanuel Cancer Center Birthday Bags

We have donated non-perishable food items and birthday bags to Emmanuel Cancer Center this year. The last delivery before the summer was made yesterday. We are happy to support this worthwhile cause, and plan to continue our support for the next club year. Birthday Bags provide celebration ingredients for the children and their families fighting cancer. A cake mix, a can of frosting, candles, balloons, festive plates and napkins, and other small party items in a birthday bag can make a big difference!

Delivery of Baby Items

Due to the overwhelming generosity of our members and guests at our Baby Shower, we sorted and packaged girl’s and boy’s clothing  sized 3 months to 24 months for The Baby Basics Program at Children’s Aid and Family Services, and size 2 to 5 for the Strengthen Our Sisters Shelter. These photos show a sampling of the items donated–clothing of course, but also big boxes and bags of diapers, wipes, toys, board books, shoes, socks blankets, an infant swing and more. We had to pack a car for two days to make the deliveries! Pictured below are Maria DiMartino, Linda Miko, and Nona Maher with the representative from The Baby Basics Program at Children’s Aid and Family Services. A huge thank you to all who supported us! You helped to make a difference for many families in need.

18th Annual Baby Shower

On June 4th our club held our 18th annual Baby Shower to benefit moms in need, Donations this year were targeted for Strengthen Our Sisters Shelter and The Baby Basics Program at Children’s Aid and Family Services. Members were so generous with their donations, and attendees enjoyed dinner together at Savini’s Restaurant in Allendale. This Shower also marked the end of our Club year. Our next Club meeting will be on September 10th at 7pm at the Upper Saddle River Library. All members and prospective members are welcome to attend.  Come and learn about us and our charitable causes!

ARROWAre you looking to get involved in our community? The Woman’s Club of Upper Saddle River invites you to come to our Meet and Greet Reception at the USR Firehouse this coming Tuesday evening, April 2nd, at 7pm.

Meet our members and learn about what we do to support our community and others, and how you can get involved. We also have fun together at our socials, health and wellness events, and our cultural arts trips.

We meet once  a month at the USR Library–generally on the first Tuesday evening of the month (except for September, November and January when we meet on the second Tuesday).

We are looking forward to meeting you–bring a friend!

At Noon on Valentine’s Day,  three lucky winners will be chosen when we draw tickets at Borough Hall. We will post the winners here, and on our Facebook page–and we will notify them of their good luck personally by phone!

Winners need not be present to win, and those who purchased multiple tickets have the possibility to win more than one prize.
