Thanks to member, Joan Clifford, and our local Athleta for a lovely evening of browsing, shopping, chatting, and wellness. Members enjoyed stretches from the experts at Stretch Lab, gift bags from Sephora, and munched on a fruit and a cheese platter while many chose to add to their workout wardrobe.
A February outing for members was an evening at Stumpy’s Hatchet House. Members tried their hand at throwing an axe––and many determined women hit the bullseye! It was such fun!
In late January and February, club members donated and collected hearty soups and other non-perishable food items to support the Center for Food Action’s “Souper Bowl” Food Drive. Members brought their donations to our meeting. Collection baskets were also placed in the USR Library lobby and a drive through was held at our recycling center on a Saturday. Community outreach and member generosity filled two carloads of donations to help neighbors in need.
We wore red at our February meeting for Women’s Heart Health Month and we welcomed Cardiologist, Dr. Christine Gerula, who spoke to us about the Go Red For Women Campaign, how to have better heart health, and the signs and symptoms of heart attacks in women.
Members kicked off November by volunteering to work shifts at the Community Thrift Shop in Midland Park––tagging and sorting a huge pile of donated clothing in preparation for sale.
Members rounded out a very busy October on the 29th with a lovely luncheon outdoors at Torne Valley Vineyard in nearby Hillburn, New York. The weather cooperated and the fall colors in the hillside were astounding. The band, Backyard Pool Party, provided lively music. Many thanks to Joan who organized the day and decorated our table with gourds and flowers––providing the perfect Fall touch.
On October 21st, members were guests of The Friends of Hackensack University Medical Center at a luncheon at The Ridgewood Country Club. The featured speaker was Dr. Yeraz Markarian, PhD. Her presentation on the topic, Mental Wellness: Clarity in Uncertain Times, was excellent and most timely. Many thanks to Kristen who organized our participation.
On October 20th, members spent a wonderful Fall day exploring Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton Township, NJ and enjoyed lunch at the famous Claude-Monet-styled Rats’s Restaurant. Many thanks to Kristen who organized the day.
Members enjoyed a Fall Ladies Night Out at Mezza Luna Bistro in Allendale on Thursday evening. Thanks to our Social Chairs, Kathie, Christine, and Robyn for organizing a lovely evening!
